Evrard

In 1083, Foulques went to Saxony to renew the ancient union of the two Corbies (Corbie Abbey and Corvey Abbey). The long stay that Foulques made in Saxony gave Evrard, one of the monks of Corbie Abbey, the opportunity to assert that Abbot Foulques was dead and to have himself appointed abbot in his place. Evrard, as Abbot of Corbie, participated, in Compiègne, in a council of the ecclesiastical province of Reims concerning the reestablishment of regular discipline in the monasteries. When Foulques returned to Corbie, in 1085, Evrard was deposed and Foulques took over the head of the abbey.
